SERIES FINAL SET FOR WEDNESDAY
The Pop Up Series final for freshmen filly trotters will take place this Wednesday, and is carded as Race #1 on the 13-race card. Daringly, a Southwind Frank homebred filly owned by the Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi, LLC, is the 6-5 morning line favorite for driver Ronnie Wrenn. She won her most recent start in 1:57.2. Post time for the Wednesday card is 12:45 p.m.
TOP TROTTERS FEATURED ON THURSDAY
Thursday’s (July 16) 12:45 p.m., afternoon card will kick off with the top race of the week for trotters, the $18,000 Open Handicap. Southwind Caspian and Big Shoes, bother from the Burke Stable, will likely take significant play. Southwind Caspian (Walner) went wire-to-wire last week for driver Mike Wilder in 1:51.4, a career best. Big Shoes (Greenshoe) made a break at the start last week, spotted the field nearly 20 lengths, then came back to finish 5th in 1:53.3, with a 27.3 final quarter. Good Feeln To Know, out of the Rick Hercules Stable, is also in the field after finishing second to the winner in last week’s Open, mossing only by three-quarter of a length.
