Harrington, DE – Don and David Wiest’s Blazing Tui ($2.10, Corey Callahan) set a new track record for 2-year-old trotting geldings with a 1:57.4 in his $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) elimination Wednesday (Sept. 30) at Harrington Raceway.

The Yankee Royalty gelding improved to 3-for-3 lifetime with a front end romp over Youcancallmeroy and Lebanon Levii. Trained by David Wiest, the win came on co-owner Don Wiest’s 96th birthday.
Meanwhile 2-year-old filly Vamoose ($3.20, Eddie Dennis) equaled her own 1:59.1 track record in the first filly division. Owned by Rodney Wyatt, E&K Racing and Kevin Peck, Vamoose, a daughter of Anders Bluestone, controlled the tempo from post seven and was a comfortable winner over Franchesca and Leap Year. Vamoose improved to 3-for-3 in her career for trainer/driver/co-owner Dennis.
In the next filly division, Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi’s Daringly ($2.10, Callahan) was a 1:59.4 winner over Dassie and She Is Unstoppable. The Southwind Frank filly improved to 3-for-6 in her career for trainer Ron Burke.
In the second male division, Mike and Linda English’s Mike Franks ($3, Ross Wolfenden) was a 2:00.3 winner over Amish Outlaw and Italian Royalty. Trained by John Wilkerson, the Southwind Frank gelding earned the second win of his career. The final male division went to Sonja Booth’s Platinum Ice ($3.40, Troy Beyer) in 2:01 over Cirocco and Frosty Frank. The EL Platinum gelding earned his first lifetime win for trainer Besin Odza.
The top 8 point earners from two rounds of eliminations return for $110,000 final events on October 14.
In the overnight feature, the $22,500 Open Trot, longshot Somebody Special (14-1) led the field through fractions of 28.2, 57.3 and 1:25.4 before pocket sitter That Ole Bar Stool ($16.60, Art Stafford Jr.) shook loose down the passing lane in the stretch for a 1:55 win. Speed Away closed late for second while Somebody Special was third. Trained by Bobby Clark, it was the 5th win of the year for Tina Clark’s That Ole Bar Stool.
Also on the undercard, Sam Banks’ Lizzy Lauxmont ($17.20, Callahan) was a 1:56.3 winner in the $18,000 Open II. It was one of 3 wins on the card for Callahan.
Round two of DSBF stakes action for 2-year-old horses will headline the October 5-7 racing programs with the male pacers on Monday (October 5), female pacers Tuesday (October 6) and trotters Wednesday (Oct. 7) to round out the week.
