Lou’s Starr sets all-time Shenandoah Downs pacing mark
Dan Chansky’s Lou’s Starr triggered his second track record of the week — at two different ovals — when he wired the field in a $10,000 conditioned pace Saturday (Sept. 26) at Shenandoah Downs in 1:51.1, the fastest mile ever recorded at the Woodstock half-miler. The 4-year-old Sweet Lou horse shattered the previous best — which he authored last fall — by three-fifths of a second. The winner, who recorded quarter fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:23.1, is trained by Scott Warnick and was driven by Corey Braden.
Meyersdale Saturday program produces record miles
The second-to-last stop of the 2026 Pennsylvania Fair circuit was held at the Somerset County Fairgrounds in this borough located in southwestern Pennsylvania. The Saturday (Sept. 19) card for 2-year-olds will be remembered as “the Miracle of Meyersdale,” as the dedicated local track crew talked with the horsemen about a tricky surface and picked a plan of action which resulted, after a 78-minute delay, in three Meyersdale divisional track records and three 2:00 miles.
Jensville A tops Twin B Joe Fresh in 1:47.4 track record at Philly
The Huntsville mare Jensville A, perfectly driven by George Napolitano Jr., captured the $16,000 fast-class mares handicap pace Friday (Sept. 18) afternoon at Harrah’s Philadelphia in 1:47.4, knocking a tick off of the track record for older pacing mares, which was set by Shartin N in her Horse of the Year campaign in 2019.
Four-year-old mare trotting record lowered twice Wednesday at Northville Downs
Prior to today’s races at Northville Downs at Barry Expo Center, the track record for 4-year-old trotting mares was 2:02.4 established on this year’s opening day by Retta Estelle and driver John Moody. Monticello, NY – The final curtain call of the 2026 New York Sire Stakes Season was held at Monticello Raceway on Monday August 24 and closed out with a bang when Chapter Geo J set a track record of 1:55.1. While the fields may have lacked quantity, it was made up in quality with Read The Room and Chapter Geo J trotting identical miles of 1:55.1, Chapter Geo J eclipsed the former track record by a full second.
