Delaware, OH — From start to finish the 52nd annual Spring Blooded Horse Sale, held Monday (May 11) in Delaware, Ohio, was the strongest ever.
Frank Chick of Harrington, Del., topped the sale from his powerful consignment with Preparty at $42,000. The handsome Somebeachsomewhere 4-year-old upper level conditioned pacer was purchased by Rene Allard. Chick quickly reinvested that money in Emerald Highland Farms’ Miami Valley track record holder Warp Factor Three for $42,000.
Talk Strategy and Keystone Real Deal, both solid conditioned pacers from the Chick consignment, sold for $27,500 and $20,000, respectively. Talk Strategy was purchased by RTC Racing LLC of Ohio and Keystone Real Deal went to Keith Pippi of Pennsylvania.
Burke Racing Stable LLC brought an excellent consignment that was led by $1 million earner Southwestern Dream, who sold for $22,000. The 10-year-old son of Cambest, who just won in 1:51.2f at Pocono, was purchased by Blake Baker of Delaware.
Mystic Karissa and The Ladies Man, both quality conditioned pacers from the same consignment, were purchased for $20,000 each by Thomas Pollack of Pennsylvania.
Interestingly, the top ten horses were all pacers except for the 5-year-old trotting mare Pinehall Lady, purchased by Dino Lo Castro near the end of the sale for $22,000.
The next Blooded Horse Sale is Aug. 31-Sept. 1 and will feature black type yearlings, racehorses, and breeding stock. Black-type yearling entries close July 1, mixed sale entries July 20. For information, visit www.bloodedhorse.com.
