Columbus, OH — The Daily Racing Form is reporting that 3-year-old colt trotter Smilin Eli, who was scratched this past Saturday as the morning line favorite in the $294,000 Stanley Dancer Memorial at the Meadowlands, has moved into the barn of trainer David Smith.

Unraced as a 2-year-old, Smilin Eli won his first four starts this year, including the New Jersey Sire Stakes championship, by no less than one length. His most recent start was a fifth-place finish in the Beal Memorial on June 29 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Bred and owned by Nicholas Cimino, the son of Muscles Yankee-Gerri’s Joy has banked $146,000 in his career.
