Winbak Dimensions recorded his thirty-second career victory on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs.
Nichols, NY — Tioga Downs’ 2008 horse of the year Winbak Dimensions started off the 2011 race season in mid-season form on Sunday afternoon. Matt Kakaley hustled Winbak Dimensions to the front from post position number three through an opening panel of 27.4 before releasing the favorite JK Kinahurra and Jason Bartlett. Kakaley then sat the pocket behind Bartlett through fractions of 56.4 and 1:24.1 before pulling to the outside for the stretch drive. Winbak Dimensions stopped the tele-timer in 1:51.4 to record his thirty-second win of his career. The 8-year-old stallion is owned by William and Jack Heinz of Ohio and is conditioned by one of Tioga Downs’ leading trainers since day one in 2006, Jim Perry.
Four divisions of the Kenneth J Pacing Series also highlighted Sunday afternoon’s racing program with Black Ace Hanover turning in one of the most impressive wins on the day. Jason Bartlett steered the 3-year-old gelded son of Cam’s Card Shark – Bet Again Hanover for trainer Scott Blackler. The mile of 1:54.3 established a new lifetime mark for Black Ace Hanover who won the final division of the afternoon by open lengths on the wire. Other division winners included Willie’s Dragon – Kyle Di Benedetto (1:53.4), Gotta Love Him – Matt Kakaley (1:53.4), and All Tricked Out – Kyle Di Benedetto (1:54).

The Battle of Saratoga #6 Trotting Series got underway at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Sunday afternoon. The three leg series will conclude with a $40,000+ final on May 30. The first leg of the series went the way of the big favorites. Special Eddie, A Megabuck and Lorenzo Dream all had little difficulty scoring victories in the first leg. Special Eddie (Sj’s Caviar) got the series started for the favorites and cruised to a wire-to-wire 1:57.1 career best win. Billy Dobson piloted the 4-year-old to all three victories in his current streak. A Megabuck (Dream Vacation) continued in his winning ways for Mark Beckwith on Sunday afternoon as the 4-year-old came from the back of the pack to prevail, drawing off late by better than five lengths. A Megabuck was comfortable in the stretch and stopped the clock in 1:58 at odds of 1-9. The win was the fourth in six tries in 2011 for the Melissa Beckwith trainee and victory number 15 in 26 lifetime starts. Lorenzo Dream (Taurus Dream) headed into the series as the one to beat and cemented that role on Sunday with an easy 1:56.3 score. Billy Dobson was in the sulky for trainer Jackie Rousse as Lorenzo Dream extended his local win streak to five. The Sunday wire-to-wire win was the fastest of the season for the 4-year-old who scored convincingly in 1:56.3. The second leg of the series takes place next Sunday afternoon, May 15.
