Vernon, NY — Vernon Downs will host the rich finals of the 2010 Empire Breeders Classic for trotters with a Memorial Day matinee card with a post time of 1:15 p.m.
The $235,900 EBC final for sophomore trotting colts is led by Ray Schnittker’s entry of Big Stick Lindy and Shaq Is Back. Those two were last week’s elimination winners, with Big Stick Lindy scoring the faster 1:55.4 victory and Shaq Is Back benefitting from the disqualification of Whata Winner to be placed first in 1:57.1. A full field of nine competes in the sixth race on the day.
The EBC fillies will chase a $234,900 prize and Impressive Kemp has emerged as a clear cut favorite in this test. She has won both of her seasonal starts right here at Vernon and has yet to flare a nostril in the process. Southwind Samurai is the other elim winner and leads the competition.
The Monday card is a strong one with five divisions of the Miracle Mile class pacers supporting the stakes.
