Scarborough, ME — Scarborough Downs is celebrating its 60th racing season this year and as part of the celebration festivities, the track is searching for customers, horsemen, former employees, etc. with stories that they want to share.
Many people have a special story to tell about their experience at Scarborough Downs, from its first opening back in July 1950, to today.
“What we’re planning is really a great way to not only celebrate the history of the track, but keep the memories alive for future generations,” said Publicity Director Michael Sweeney. “It seems everyone has a story about Scarborough Downs. Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t share with us their fond memories of being here.”
All submissions will be reviewed and the best will be selected for video taping to be aired as short segments during the live race card on the celebration day of Saturday, July 17.
Scarborough Downs is also seeking track memorabilia for its Hall of Fame display in the Grandstand.
Everyone is invited to share their best memory of Scarborough Downs by going to the track’s website, www.ScarboroughDowns.com and clicking on the “Submit your Story” link. Deadline for submissions is June 25.
