Freehold, NJ — Wire To Wire Enterprises’ Baywood Barrister and John Polvinale’s Saucy Score have been installed as the morning line favorites in their respective divisions of the featured $5,400 conditioned trot at Freehold Raceway on Thursday.
Baywood Barrister will open on the board as the 5-2 early choice in the first division. Most recently, the five-year-old gelded son of Benign Chaplin raced in a $5,400 trot at Freehold on January 13 and closed well to finish third behind Pure Fox in a 1:59.4 mile. Any improvement on that solid performance can make him a winner on Thursday.
Baywood Barrister will leave the gate from post six. He will be handled by his trainer/driver, Alex Kavoleff.
Andrethegiant, Mr Ego, Pieceofcake Kosmos, Tropical Pirate, Big Sky Angel, Poke’mon Trainer and Burn Drive complete the field.
The lukewarm 3-1 favorite in the second division is Saucy Score. Leaving from post eight against $5,400 trotters at Freehold a week ago, the eight-year-old Final Score mare was used hard getting early position and weakened badly to finish seventh behind Nanny Fine’s 1:59.2 winning mile. Prior to that outing, however, Saucy Score had won a $5,400 conditioned trot at Freehold on January 6, and a return to that form could get her back onto the winning track.
Trainer Monico Stanislao has chosen Jay Randall to drive Saucy Score, who will start from post position two.
Rounding out the field are Dauntless Warrior, Derbys Goal, Fiveonefour, Surprise Package, Hi Po Serenade, Caneel Bay and Steven R.
First post for Thursday’s 12 race card at Freehold has been set for 12:30 p.m.
