Monroe, OH – Adamsville Road upsets in tonight’s (Jan. 14) featured Open Handicap trot, snapping heavily favored Oh Look Magic’s five race winning streak.

Adamsville Road and driver Luke Hanners left alertly from post five and settled into a loose pocket trip behind the heavily favored Oh Look Magic, winner of 13 of his last 15 starts in Open company. The field settled in and remained single file as Widger and Oh Look Magic commanded the field past a quarter and half of :28.2, :56.2. As the field turned up the backside into the full force of the gusty, wintery conditions, Oh Look Magic’s once three length lead began to slowly shrink as Adamsville Road closed in, tightening up to the helmet of Widger past the three- quarter in 1:25. At that moment, Luke Hanners gave the right line a tug and out came Adamsville Road to begin his challenge for the lead as they trotted the final turn with Adamsville Road inching closer throughout. As the dueling leaders turned for home, Hanners drew even with Widger and Oh Look Magic before taking a short lead in what looked to be an easy victory from the pocket sitting trip, but Oh Look Magic kept battling, closing back in before eventually fading in the final steps as Adamsville Road put away his foe by a half length in 1:54.1. Sayinwhatimthinkin rounded out the trifecta.
The win was the fourth in his last eight starts, with the other four finishes being the runner up variety. The seven-year-old son of Swan For All out of She Wore Red, increased his lifetime earnings to just over $628,000 with 28 wins in just 104 starts, and handed trainer John Melsheimer his first training win of the year.
