Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund accepting 2023 grant applications

Albany, NY — The Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund is now accepting grant applications from certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

The Fund will award grants for 2023. Awards will be based on the strength of proposal and its adherence to the statutorily mandated mission of the Fund, to promote agriculture through the breeding of Standardbred horses and the conduct of equine research within the state.

Grants are awarded “to support and promote research, educational programming, and the preservation of the history and traditions of harness and trotting horse racing through acquiring and maintaining collections of artifacts, memorabilia and documents related to such history and to maintaining a historic race track that is designated as a national registered historic landmark.”

Grant proposals from eligible organizations must be received by the Fund no later than April 27. The grant application can be found here. Interested organizations are asked to review the application and the Fund’s grants policy to determine their eligibility.

Grant awardees will be announced during a publicly held meeting of the Board of Trustees, which may or may not be the same meeting as the presentation by applicants. Grant awardees will also be notified in writing, which will include deadlines for submission of expenditure reports. A completion report is due to the Fund 30 days after the project ending date.

Please mail completed applications to: The Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund, 230 Washington Avenue Extension, Suite 101, Albany, NY 12203 or email Ralph.scunziano@gaming.ny.gov.
