Ahle and Shecandance N prove to be great dance partners

Ft. Washington, MD — Shecandance N had been razor sharp in $50,000 claimers at Yonkers, a winner in four of her previous five starts. A recent purchase for Maryland based owner Robert Cacamese, the 8-year-old daughter of A Rocknroll Dance did not dissappoint in her local debut, winning the $12,000 Mares Open at Rosecroft on Tuesday (April 25) in 1:53.1.

Control The Thong (John Wagner) was second while Sweet Sweet Connie (Justin Walters) was third.

Johnathan Ahle won four races on the card, including the Open winner trained by Steve LeBlanc. That barn has won 12 of 25 races at the Spring meet.

There are six racing nights left in the meet. Johnathan Roberts, who won twice on the Tuesday card, leads Ahle 50-44 with Russell Foster, a two-time winner on Tuesday’s card, right behind at 43. Those three drivers, along with John Wagner, have been in the top-3 in 42 percent or better with drivers who have 100 drives or more at the meet, with Roberts at a whopping 50 percent.

Frank Milby also garnered two winners, while trainer John Urbanski won twice.

Maryland Sires Stakes action gets started with older pacers and trotters on Thursday night.

Tuesday night, 3-year-old filly trotter Goolishness won a $10,000 trot for Sires Stakes eligibles. Foster was in the bike for breeder-owner Tom Cooke and trainer Roger Hans. Last year, the daughter of Googoo Gaagaa was on the board in all seven starts and won the $75,000 championship at Ocean Downs.

Wyatt Long and Newton (Yogi) Sheridan took divisions of the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club.
