Ahle sweeps Tuesday Rosecroft features

Ft. Washington, MD — Johnathan Ahle capped a big Tuesday night (Oct. 17) by winning both features at Rosecroft.

In the $12,000 Open Mares Handicap Pace, Got The Gold sprinted around Talk Show Chica for the lead just past the first quarter and rolled to a 1:53.2 score for her eighth win of the year. Michael Hall trains the 4-year-old by Bettor’s Delight for Let It Ride Stables and James Miller. Pasta Momma (Jonathan Roberts) was second in an airtight three horse photo with Dice Dice Baby (John Wagner) and Talk Show Chica (Corey Braden). It gave Hall a training double.

In the $10,000 Open Trot, Ahle and Certify scored a one length victory over Jammin Jack (Frank Milby) and Funnyfunnyriddle (Hugh O’Neil) in 1:55.4 for owner Michael Wallace and trainer Chris Scicluna. It put the finishing touches on a five win night for Ahle.

Frank Milby had a driving double as he won with Maryland Sires Stakes champion Phoenix Rising in 1:53.2. It was the ninth win of the year in 22 starts for the Movie Idol filly who punched her seasonal earnings to $113,580. The homebred filly is owned by Liz Gannnon and Frank Gannon III, who also trains the horse.

Kubi Erzene and 80-year-old Bob Sampson won divisions of the Mid Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club on Tuesday night.

Erzene won a thrilling stretch drive over Wish Granted (Adrian Wisher Jr.) with Rogue Cheddar for owner-trainer Bryson Dunning and Sampson moved Foxbriar Remark down the backside to the lead and held off a charging Crush Hanover (Gene Robinson). Sampson trains the horse for Fox Briar Farms.
