Annual Wiener Dog Derby this Saturday at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — This Saturday (June 3) is “Wiener Take All” in Meadowlands Racetrack’s annual Weiner Dog Derby.

Sixty pre-registered dachshunds will be competing for the $500 grand prize in between the live horse races. Live racing kicks off at 6:20 p.m.

There are eight qualifying heats with the top canine from each heat advancing to the final. Each canine heat winner will receive a special chew toy while the canine owner will receive a $100 voucher. The first qualifying heat is at 6:35 p.m.

The Wiener Dog Derby final will take place on the racetrack after race eight at approximately 9:45 p.m. The winning hound will receive a chew toy prize pack in addition to the cash prize for his or her owners.

The derby takes place in the racetrack’s Backyard and admission and parking are free.

Fans, family and friends are encouraged to come out and cheer on their favorite hound. Just remember only participating dogs are allowed at the track, no spectator dogs permitted.
