Columbus, OH — David Yarock has announced that applications are now available for a pair of 2010 equine scholarship funds — the Edward Weiner and Edward Yarock Equine Scholarship Fund and the Donald Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund.

“Our scholarship funds, which began in 2008, honors the memories of my father Edward Yarock and my stepfather Dr. Edward Weiner,” writes Yarock on the scholarship website, www.equinescholarship.com. “Both men were kind hearted and empathetic and inspirational to the people that came in contact with them and subscribed to the adage “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for life.”

“Our goal is to expand the fund in order to assist as many students as possible. The future of the harness industry is dependent on young, educated people becoming a part of it and we hope to play an integral role by providing this financial assistance.

“[In 2009] we were proud to bequest $19,000 in awards to 11 deserving recipients at our 3rd Annual Night at the Races at Yonkers Raceway on July 30, 2009. It was a fun and heartwarming evening.

“We have recently added a special award in memory of my father-in-law who passed away in June 2009. This will be called the Donald Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund.”

Applications for the scholarships may be downloaded by clicking on this link. The applications must be completed by June 30.
