Nichols, NY — Arnie’s Angel (Ridge Warren) charged late to capture the featured $10,500 fillies and mares pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (June 23).

A Better Game (Mike Merton) was first to the quarter in :26.1. She used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.3. She continued to control the pace, hitting three-quarters first in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch eventual second place finisher Amini (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) and Arnie’s Angel ($6.90) came all out after A Better Game. Arnie’s Angel got up to win it in 1:52.3. A Better Game had to settle for third.
Arnie’s Angel is a 7-year-old mare by Big Jim. She is trained by Randy Taft for owners Mali Norbye and Arnold Witkin. It was her fourth win this season. She now owns 23 career victories.
Mike Merton and Bruce Aldrich Jr. each had driving doubles.
