Zapaca (Leon Bailey) captures the $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Sept. 5).
Frantic Hanover, Ginger Tree Lex PaSS stars at Philly
Over $1.5 million in purses was offered at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday afternoon (Sept. 5), with the bulk of the bounty being distributed in four $300,000 Championships of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for 2-year-olds. In addition to the big-money finales, there were $50,000 consolations for each division, along with $100,000 in three races for fast-class older performers.
Tres Chic Bluechip goes overland for Batavia win
Tres Chic Bluechip brushed late from off the pace to score an upset in the $12,800 Open I-II pace for fillies and mares at Batavia Downs on Monday (Sept. 1) afternoon.
Sweet Angel Boy Returns To Harrington Winner’s Circle
Andrew Glassmeyer’s Sweet Angel Boy ($6.20, Ross Wolfenden) was a 1:51.3 winner in the $18,000 Open Monday (Sept. 1) at Harrington Raceway.
Carve is a bridesmaid no more at The Red Mile
On Monday (Sept. 1), Carve collected her first career victory in the fourth-round leg of the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series for freshman filly trotters in 1:52.3 at The Red Mile. The 12-race holiday card included fourth round divisions of the $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series, the $15,000 Kentucky Golden Rod Series and the $10,000 Wildcat Series with 2-year-old filly trotters at the forefront.
Field set for $1,000,000 MGM Yonkers International Trot
Canada’s fastest trotter Lexus Kody and multi-millionaire Periculum have been named the final two horses for the $1,000,000 MGM Yonkers International Trot. The pair now complete a 10-horse field that will compete on September 13 at MGM Yonkers Raceway in the 1-1/4 mile classic.
Up-and-Comers in the Pocono spotlight
The Huntsville sophomore filly Calamity Hour overcame a very difficult first-over trip to take the $15,500 pacing distaff feature on Monday (Sept. 1) afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania in 1:52.1.
Winnpanzee goes for three straight at The Red Mile
On Wednesday (Sept. 3) The Red Mile will conduct fourth round legs of the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series, $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series, $15,000 Golden Rod Series and $10,000 Kentucky Wildcat Series for sophomore trotting fillies. Winnpanzee seeks her third consecutive victory and second in Championship Series action at the Lexington facility.
