The trotters and pacers returned for 2024 pari-mutuel racing on Friday (April 13) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, with the track condition for the opener of Philly’s nineteenth season going from “sloppy” to “good” to “fast” as the track dried out after a morning rainstorm.

A pair of veteran trotters notched their first victories of the season in the co-featured $9,000 events at Buffalo Raceway on Friday afternoon (April 12) as Lougazi posted a popular $2.50 score in the opening division while Con Air Hall pulled a $27.80 stunner in the other bracket.

Off a strong runner-up finish last week, Rocks Shining Star avenged his defeat with an aggressive trip to take the $30,000 Open Pace on Monday (April 8) at Oak Grove Gaming, Racing & Hotel.

Four Sixes, a Six Pack colt, is undefeated in three 2024 starts after recording a 1:55 victory in one of four $20,000 first-round prelims of the Bobby Weiss Series for 3-year-old trotting males on as nice a Monday (April 8) afternoon as you could want at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

It was ladies day at Buffalo Raceway on Friday (April 5) as a pair of mares each took the co-featured $9,000 trotting events. Retha Babe ($8.60) and Muskingum ($4.60), both mares, used different tactics but got the same victorious results on the matinee program.

The Nob Hill High gelding Nob Hill Flash completed a sweep of his Game of Claims series action for $15,000 base-tagged pacers Monday (March 25) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, tacking on a 1:52 victory in his $20,000 Championship event after winning in each of his preliminaries.

Going Platinum took no prisoners and won the Bally’s Dover late closer for 3-year-old fillies on the trot in 1:58.2 at Bally’s Dover on Monday (March 25) night.
