When live racing was cancelled on Monday (Jan. 29), Race Secretary Eric Warner and Monticello Harness Horsemen President Alan Schwartz worked together and carded 13 races for Thursday to help the horsemen who got shut out on Monday, the decision worked out well for both parties, the 13-race card handled $1,114,118.36, with a per race average $85,701.

Cote assisted in Bourgault investigation
Further details on the death of the standardbred race horse “Finish Line” at the hand of trainer Frederick Bourgault at a New York training facility last July reveal that Brice Cote, private investigator for Jeff Gural’s racetracks, played an integral role in the process that led to Bourgault’s and indictment by Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler and eventual arrest on Jan. 30.
