When a 21-year-old Yannick Gingras moved from his native Quebec to the U.S. in the summer of 2001, he had no idea what his future held. The young driver, who launched his career in 1998, arrived with 72 career wins and fewer than 400 starts. Somwherunderheavn off to impressive career start at Miami Valley
Somwherunderheavn is off to a great start in her career with four wins and four seconds in her first eight starts. The 3-year-old filly, a homebred daughter of Nob Hill High owned by Sharon Fisher, earned her biggest payday thus far on Tuesday (April 4). She won the $22,500 final of the George ‘Red’ Owens Memorial late closer, featuring female pacers who were non-winners of two pari-mutuel races or $20,000 when the series started.
Beyer sees numbers increase, even if he doesn’t look
Troy Beyer is not one to keep track of his stats, preferring to wait until the end of the year to check his numbers. When the time has come to look, it’s been a pleasant sight. Two years ago, Beyer won 96 races and drove horses that earned $1.02 million in purses. He surpassed those figures last year, registering 148 victories and $1.62 million in the money column.
