Milton, ON – Beau Jangles claimed the top spot in the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) 2026 divisional standings with a 1:49.3 victory in the lone C$150,000 OSS Gold Leg 5 division for sophomore male pacers held on Monday night (Sept. 28) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With the victory in the final Gold leg of the season, Beau Jangles – who also won the first and fourth Gold legs – solidified his lead over Little Brown Jug champ Redland Rocket Man in the OSS standings. Entering the race, Beau Jangles was just six points ahead of Redland Rocket Man, who did not participate in Monday’s event.
Sent off as the 1-9 favorite in the field of 10, Beau Jangles was eased off the gate by James MacDonald and sat third on the outside in the early going as Borderline Mobby (driven by Louis-Philippe Roy), followed by Mega Moves (Mark MacDonald), led the group to the :27.2 opening quarter. James MacDonald pulled Beau Jangles not long after the field straightened out of the first turn and the pair was on top before the :56 half.
Beau Jangles stayed there the rest of the way, through the 1:23.3 three-quarters and with a final quarter in :26, to seal a three-quarter-length victory over Borderline Mobby, who was the only horse still in close pursuit at the wire. Mega Moves finished nine lengths back in third, followed by Dax Seelster (Daryl Thiessen) and Windor (Mike Vanderkemp).

Beau Jangles’ latest Gold win came a little over two weeks after he finished third to Redland Rocket Man on Sept. 12 in the C$140,000 Grade 3 Simcoe at Woodbine Mohawk Park won in a 1:46.4 Canadian record mile. That start proceeded Redland Rocket Man’s wins in his elimination and the final of the $650,000 Grade 1 Little Brown Jug on Sept. 24.
“In the last start we were rolling along, looked pretty good, and (Beau Jangles) got picked off by a couple nice horses,” MacDonald told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis in the winner’s circle. “(Beau Jangles) kind of dropped the bit on me when he was rolling along, and I was hoping I could get him on a helmet (tonight) even if it was five steps. I just wanted to kind of get the blood flowing and let him kind of get focused on the race. When he came out of the hole, he was a lot more business today.
“He’s so quiet when he makes the front, he just kind of goes to sleep on you, and then when I called on him, he came back to life. So, it was good to see.”

Beau Jangles’ trainer, Dr. Ian Moore, said the colt will now head to Kentucky to race in a Bluegrass at The Red Mile on Saturday (Oct. 3) on the same card as the Kentucky Futurity.
“I was just telling James before the race, most recently (Beau Jangles has) got really nice to be around to train,” Dr. Moore said. “He’s two fingers and straight as a string. I just chirp to him, warming up, and he takes off finishing the way he used to be when he started out as a 2-year-old. I think the last month he’s returned to that form for us. I’m going to go home tonight and enter him for Lexington and the Bluegrass on Saturday. It’s coming back in five days, but I trained him lightly last week, and I think he’ll be up to the task. We’ll ship him down there Friday morning to race Saturday afternoon.”
Beau Jangles, who was a perfect 12-for-12 as a 2-year-old, improved to 17-0-3 in 24 lifetime starts. The C$75,000 payday pushed his career earnings to C$2.12 million. The son of Cattlewash out of Mrs Major Hill is now 5-0-3 in 12 starts in 2026. He has earned C$438,907 this year.
Bred by Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry, Ontario, Beau Jangles was purchased for $65,000 out of the Preferred Equine consignment at the 2024 Standardbred Horse Sales Company yearling sale in Harrisburg, Pa., by the Graham Grace Stables of Clifton, Va., Kiwi Stables of La Plata, Md., and Bolton Stables of Clermont, Fla.
