Fryeburg, ME — The nation’s second leading dash winner, Brett Beckwith, took his talents to Maine on Wednesday (Oct. 2) and won five of his nine drives on the 10-race card at the Fryeburg Fair.
The rising star did not disappoint the typical large crowd in attendance, with his five winners bringing him to 493 wins on the year, trailing only Aarons Merriman for the top spot.
In other action on the day, 3-year-old filly Gowestyounggrace won her 11th consecutive Maine Sire Stakes race for Fred and Sharon Ward with veteran reinsman David Ingraham in the bike. The other stakes win on the program went to Emma Rose in a lifetime best 1.58.4 for Heath Campbell.
Racing at Fryeburg continues through Sunday. The highlight of the meet is the Mountain Skipper Invitational, to be raced on Saturday (Oct. 5).
