Dover, DE — Benjamin Hanover overpowered the best trotters on the ground at Bally’s Dover in Tuesday night’s (Feb. 4) $25,000 Open Handicap Trot.
Last Glow and Benjamin Hanover left alertly at the start of the race, and Benjamin Hanover cleared Last Glow to set early fractions of :28 and :57.3. Keg Stand braved a first-over try past the three-eighths marker, Platinum As gained momentum second-over up the backstretch, and Last Glow remained in the pocket. Meanwhile, 1-9 favorite Benjamin Hanover set sail trotting to the three-quarters in 1:26.1 then drew off in the stretch to win by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:54.2. Last Glow was a ground-saving second; Keg Stand survived a first-over trip to finish third.

Tim Tetrick drove Benjamin Hanover, a son of Sebastian K S who paid $2.20 to win, for trainer Scott DiDomenico and owner Angela Cornell.
Earlier in the evening, JL Cruze scored his 74th lifetime victory, winning in 1:56.1.
Corey Callahan led all drivers with four wins on the evening.
