Columbus, OH — Bernece E. Burris, 87, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died April 26, 2023.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1935, to Emil and Cora (Henschen) Eilert. She was a graduate of Webster High School in 1953. She married Gerald Burris on July 9, 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2021.

Along with her husband, they raised, trained and raced Standardbreds for over 50 years.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and in the kitchen baking.

Along with her husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stewart Eilert.

Mrs. Burris is survived by her son, James (Cheryl); daughter, Becky (Richard) Johnson; grandchildren, Crystal, Michael, Tyler, Emily, and Beth; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Maxine Cross.

Final resting will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
