Bonin new chair of ARCI Regulatory Attorneys Committee

Lexington, KY — Brett Bonin, the chief prosecutor for the Louisiana Racing Commission and Assistant Attorney General, is the new chair of the Association of Racing Commissioners International (ARCI) Regulatory Attorneys Committee.

ARCI chair Tom Sage, of Nebraska, announced the appointment and noted that Bonin has never lost a doping prosecution and is “extremely well versed in all aspects of racing regulatory law.”

“Bonin is known as a tough and unyielding advocate in court and previously served in private practice before becoming an Assistant Attorney General in Louisiana,” said Sage.

Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, Bonin was an attorney with the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control. He also served as a law clerk for Judge Roland Belsome in the Louisiana Civil District Court and was associated with the sheriff’s office of Orleans Parish as well as the crisis unit of the New Orleans Police Department.

The ARCI Regulatory Attorneys Committee meets to discuss legal trends affecting the regulation of professional horse racing, as well as to review recent court decisions that may be relevant to all jurisdictions.
