Brilliant Beauty takes Tioga distaff; Hennessey wins four

Nichols, NY — Brilliant Beauty and Tyler Miller easily won the featured $13,000 Fillies and Mares Open 1-2 Handicap Pace on Saturday (May 20) at Tioga Downs.

Prairie Westergal (Wally Hennessey) got the first call, but Brilliant Beauty took over the lead through a :27.2 first quarter. Abby Rose (Ridge Warren) joined her going to the clubhouse turn and challenged for the lead, but Brilliant Beauty preserved her lead through middle splits of :55.4 and 1:24. As they made the turn for home, Brilliant Beauty found another gear and won easily in 1:53.2. Abby Rose held on for second; Prairie Westerngal was third.

Brilliant Beauty, who paid $6.40 to win, is a 5-year-old mare by JK Endonanera owned by Jemaxpro Racing Stable and trained by Tee Wine. It was her third win this season and the 18th win of her career.

Hall of Famer Wally Hennessey had a driving grand slam, winning with The Boss Man ($2.50), Rock My Socks ($3.20), Coolncalculating N ($2.10) and Cherry Valley ($3.50).
