Buckeye Fair Racing Consortium awards scholarships

Washington Court House, OH — The fifth annual Buckeye Fair Racing Consortium Scholarship has been awarded by judges Ann and Ray Lufkin to three outstanding students for 2023.

Lily Sunderhaus from Celina, Ohio, helps campaign the family owned 2-year-olf filly trotter Champa Bay Hall. Lily attends Bowling Green State University and is seeking a degree in business management.

Mitchell Bean of Sabina, Ohio, is part owner in sophomore pacers Cruiser The Kid and Caviart Donovan. Mitchell attends the University of Kentucky and is studying agricultural economics.

Aubrey Schwartz is very involved in a host of agricultural activities including Ohio FFA and her family’s Standardbred training operation in Washington Court House, Ohio. Aubrey studies agricultural education at Wilmington College.

The Buckeye Fair Racing Consortium awards this scholarship each year as a product of the popular three-fair bonus system shared by the Ohio Colt Racing Association, the Home Talent Colt Stakes and the Southern Valley Colt Circuit. The BFRC would like to extend sincere thanks to Ann and Ray Lufkin for being an integral part of the application and selection process for this scholarship and we look forward to 2024.
