Buter and Schadel shine in Pennsylvania All-Stars

Wilkes-Barre PA — Tyler Buter (career driving wins: 4,299) and Cody Schadel (career training wins: four) each had two winners during Tuesday afternoon’s (July 11) four $30,000 divisions of the Pennsylvania All-Stars for 2-year-old trotting fillies at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

Buter guided the fastest freshman filly in the International Moni–Box Of Gifts miss International Gift, who had made a break in a Sire Stakes in her first purse start but who today was on her best behavior while winning in 1:56.2, posting identical halves on the engine. Trainer George Ducharme co-owns the swift miss with Nicola Oliva.

Buter also brought the 16-1 shot Hop To It wide from last at the three-quarters and avoided inside stretch confusion, defeating favored Norma Pearl by a nose in 1:59.3 to add a first to the second in her other career purse start. The Bar Hopping–Spellyuptothebar filly is trained by Donna Marshall for Robert and Kenneth Mc Nerney along with Glen Vetrano.

The 21-year-old Schadel has been driving at the state’s fairs for several years now, but he has had his training license for less than a month. Tuesday he had success with Loveyouinbunches, a Fordham Road–Lovebeinglucky distaff who has now added an All-Stars division to a 1:58.3 Meadows Sire Stakes triumph and is undefeated in three purse races. Cody’s father Todd took the filly coast-to-coast here in 1:58.2. Todd and Christine Schadel co-own with Rick and Regina Beinhauer.

Another daughter of International Moni, Jakarta Hanover (dam Janderson) was Cody’s second stakes success story, with Andy Miller catch-driving her to a 1:58 win, setting a slowish pace and then sprinting home in :28.1. Second in a Sire Stakes in her only other purse outing, Jakarta Hanover is owned by Todd Schadel and Jim Simpson.

Pocono currently races on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday at 1 p.m. and on Sunday at 6 p.m., with Sire Stakes 2-year-old pacing fillies going postward on this Sunday’s card. Program pages for all Pocono races are or will be available at the PHHA website.
