Vernon, NY — Capt Jack Hanover (John MacDonald) cruised to an easy win in the $5,500 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 19).
Capt Jack Hanover ($2.90) was first to the quarter in :27.1. He slowed things with a :30.1 second quarter as he led to the half in :57.2. Capt Jack Hanover was strong to three-quarters in 1:25.1.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Stonebridge Hermes (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) and third-place finisher Good Rockin (Chris Long) went all-out after the lead, but Capt Jack Hanover was much the best and won easily in 1:53.1.
Capt Jack Hanover is an 8-year-old gelding by Captaintreacherous owned by Michael Kessler, Speed To Burn Racing and trainer MacDonald. It was his seventh win this season and 45th career victory.
MacDonald had a driving grand slam. He got his other wins with Hurrikane Luvnlife, Moving Day, and Major Leaguer. Mark Whitcroft and Jacquavyian Carter had driving doubles. Jessica Okusko and Barry Van Dreason had training doubles.
