Dover, DE – Captaincountrystar vacated the pocket in the stretch and sprinted home to win the Blue Hen Open Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday (Jan. 16) night.

Adam Twelve and Captaincountrystar were quickest off the starting gate. Captaincountrystar cleared the lead after being parked to the opening quarter in :26.1 by Adam Twelve. Adam Twelve, the 6/5 betting favorite, pulled from the pocket and regained the lead racing to the half in :55.3 (:29.2). Hundred Dollar Man became anxious from fourth and paced first-over down the backstretch. Itsrockandroll A was carried into a second-over trip. Leave It To Leo joined the party and raced third-over on the rim. Captaincountrystar watched the action from the pocket. Adam Twelve remained confident on the lead after reaching the three-quarters in 1:23.2 (:27.4).
Driver Pat Berry pulled on the right line of Captaincountrystar in the stretch and collared Adam Twelve at the wire to win by a head in 1:51.1. He paid $14.00 to win. Captaincountrystar (Captaintreacherous) is owned by Tib Racing LLC of Harrington, Delaware. Traci Berry trained and her husband Pat Berry drove.
Adam Twelve was second and Itsrockandroll A was third. There is a Pick-5 carryover worth $1,444 to Monday night’s sixth race.
