Columbus, OH — Carol Ann Macomber, 79, a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for 51 years, died at Orlando Health Hospital on Oct. 21, 2023, after suffering a heart attack earlier that week.
She was born on June 6, 1944, in Belleville, Ill. She was the daughter of the late Edmond Hauck Sr. and Jane (Klipfel) Hauck. She was also the wife of the late Dick Macomber.
Mrs. Macomber was a second generation Standardbred owner and avid horse racing fan. She never missed a night at her home track, Pompano Park. She traveled near and far to watch her horses race and never missed a race her son and brother were in.
She was her family’s rock, back bone, and support. She was always up for a good time, her bags were always packed and ready to travel. She never said no to her friends for a lunch date or a beer at the “café” in the cul-de-sac. She also had a great listening ear and understood everyone’s problems with an unfiltered response! She was very kind and giving. She loved planning and delivering toys for her annual Christmas toy drive for a local daycare in Pompano Beach.
She is survived by her children, Ricky (Jamie), Kelly Robinson (Steve Rust) and Kim; brother, Eddie (Jacque) Hauck; grandchildren, Taylor Robinson, Blake Robinson, Nate, Aubrey and Sarah Totsen; and nieces and nephews, Lori (Walt) DePietto, Brian (Nikki) Hauck, Anthony DePietto, Dominic DePietto, and Taylor Owen.
The family has not made arrangements for a celebration of Carol’s life, but please look forward to an upcoming date.
