The Big Reveal is set for Saturday’s (Dec. 28) ‘Day of Champions’ when The Meadows and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association announce and crown the track’s Pacer of the Year, Trotter of the Year and Horse of the Year. The winners in 12 other divisions already have been disclosed. All awardees were selected by a vote of MSOA membership. Awards will be presented to the connections of all the winners during the live card, which begins at 1:05 p.m.

Live racing resumes Thursday at The Meadows

Monticello Raceway to hold the Au Revoir Pace on Dec. 27
Monticello Raceway will present the Au Revoir Invitational Pace on Friday (Dec. 27). Race Secretary Eric Warner was able to secure six 14-year-old pacers from all over the state of New York for this event which will be racing for a purse of $5,000.
Campbell made the most of his opportunities in 2019
It is rare for a trainer to make fewer than 300 starts in a year and earn more than $3 million in purses. Going back nearly 30 years, it has happened only four times, with Gene Riegle in 1992, Jimmy Takter in 2000, Greg Peck in 2009, and Jim Campbell this season. But Campbell this year made something rare something unique. He became the only trainer in the quartet to accomplish the feat without a horse in his stable reaching $1 million.
Larry Coleman, 74, dies
Larry Eugene Coleman, 74, of Humboldt, Iowa, passed away this morning (Dec. 23) at Paula J. Babar Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
