Shartin N still on top in this week’s poll
Weekend winners Caviart Ally and Papi Rob Hanover both moved into the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown top 10 for the first time this season while the top three — Shartin N, Bettor’s Wish, and Greenshoe — remained unchanged. Caviart Ally beat Shartin N by a nose in the TVG Mare Pace championship and was seventh in this week’s rankings. Papi Rob Hanover won the Governor’s Cup and was eighth.

Stallion registration due in Maryland
All stallions standing in Maryland for the 2020 breeding season must be registered with the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund by Dec. 1 for their foals to be eligible to the Maryland Sire Stakes.
Kentucky would be making a mistake in banning race-day Lasix
Monday (Nov. 25), the Kentucky Equine Drug Research Council approved a recommendation by a vote of six to two to eliminate the use of furosemide (Lasix) on race day for 2-year-olds beginning in 2020 and in all stakes races starting in 2021. USTA Executive Vice President Mike Tanner attended that meeting in Lexington, Ky. prepared to read a statement supporting the U.S. Trotting Association’s position favoring the use of race-day Lasix, which declares that the only determining factor in the decision should be what is best for the health and welfare of the horse.
