Roland N Rock breaks track record
The early Oskaloosa meet on Saturday (June 17) and Sunday (June 18) was highlighted by a track record-breaking performance and close competition for a cheering crowd. As far as the 2017 fair harness racing season in Pennsylvania goes, it looked like they saved the best for first, as there were fast miles, track records, and near track records flying all Saturday (June 18) and Sunday (June 18) at the Dayton Fairgrounds, which commenced with Venier Hanover’s effort on Saturday.
Venier Hanover sets new track record at Dayton Fair
Venier Hanover, a 2-year-old gelding by Well Said-Valmctorian, certainly put on a show on the first day of the 2017 Pennsylvania fair racing season which was Saturday (June 17). In the very first race of the year, the precocious baby toured the half-mile track at the Dayton Fairgrounds in 1:58, missing the all-age track record of J T Arturo by a single tick in only his second career start. The sensational clocking also shattered the 2:00.2 divisional Dayton standard set by Marvalous Artist last year.
Paulding County Fair completes successful meet
The Paulding County Fair at Paulding, Ohio opened up the 2017 Ohio Fair Racing Conference season with a successful three-day meet on Wednesday (June 14) with their second straight 11-race card.
Dayton’s Saturday card opens Pennsylvania fair season
The 2017 Pennsylvania fair schedule of harness racing gets underway this weekend at the Dayton Fairgrounds in Armstrong County, just northeast of Pittsburgh. Two-year-olds will take to the track at 12 noon on Saturday (June 17), while on Sunday at the same time a full slate of 3-year-olds will be racing.
