A true sign of summer is when the Maine Sire Stakes, and harness racing in general, makes its annual swing into the Pine Tree State’s agricultural fair circuit. Monday (Aug. 4) the region’s 3-year-old filly pacers rolled into the historic Topsham Fair for two $11,000-plus divisions of sidestepping action. 

The Champaign County Fair in Urbana, Ohio, hosted the third leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for freshman pacers on Monday (Aug. 4). The 11-race card featured six $20,000 divisions of freshman male pacers and five $20,000 divisions of freshman filly pacers. Four of the boys recorded their second BSS victories of the season.

The three-day Champaign County Fair meet in Urbana, Ohio, opens Monday (Aug. 4) with a card of 11 races in the third leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for freshman male and filly pacers.

Threes were definitely wild during Sunday’s (Aug. 3) opening session of the Topsham Fair, with drivers Kevin Switzer Jr. and Heath Campbell each throwing in hat trick performances while the mare Juneparker secured her third consecutive trip down Victory Lane.

The Pennsylvania fair circuit began its busiest stretch of the entire summer with a Fair Sire Stakes meet on Saturday (August 2) and Sunday (August 3) at the Erie County Fairgrounds in this borough in the far northwest corner of Pennsylvania.

The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association (OHHA) will continue its 2025 Ohio county fair racing season with live-streaming coverage from the Champaign County Fair in Urbana, Ohio, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Aug. 4-6).

Harness racing makes a triumphant return to Maine’s mid-coast area on Sunday (Aug. 3) when the 171st edition of the Topsham Fair kicks off its five day race-meet with a stellar 10-race card scheduled to get underway at 4 pm (EDT).
