Walter Case Jr. employed various strategies on his way to scoring three wins on the Monday (Aug. 12) card at the Skowhegan State Fair.

The Pine Tree State’s 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers opened up the Maine Sire Stakes at the Skowhegan State Fair on Monday (Aug. 12) with trainer Marc Tardif sweeping both divisions of freshman sidesteppers.

The Pennsylvania Fair harness racing circuit checked in right down the road from The Meadows to have two days of Fair Sire Stakes over the grounds that used to play host to the Grand Circuit when it was known as Arden Downs.

With a full card of 14 races on Sunday (Aug. 11) at Humboldt, the mare division of Aged Iowa-Registered 3-Years and Older Pace brought the crowd to their feet.

Guns A Brazen stamped himself as the season’s leading Michigan-sired 3-year-old male trotter when he handed Kaa Dee Archie his first defeat on the Michigan fair harness racing circuit in Saturday’s $11,150 Michigan Colt Stakes event at the Midland (MI) County Fair.

Maine’s 2- and 3-year-old trotters wrapped up the meet at Topsham Fair on Saturday to compete in four $16,000-plus divisions of the Maine Sire Stakes, with trainer Valerie Grondin capturing three-quarters of the events.

The 170th edition of the Topsham Fair wound down in grand fashion on Saturday as an overflow crowd packed the historic grandstands to pay witness to an epic accomplishment as So Rock N’ Roll blazed to a new track record in the annual $10,000 Topsham Fair Open.
