As it has ever since 1857 Fulton County proudly offers its Fair as “the Top of Ohio” and is host to some top racing as well. On Saturday (Sept.1) two Ohio Fair Racing Conference stakes races were presented in a card of 11 that stepped out to a good crowd.

Pacer SB Angelindisguise took control of a field of seven of the top Iowa-Registered 3-year-old colts matching the Keokuk County Fair track record in a 1:56 performance on Sunday (Sept. 2).
“Lawbook Larry” Farley; “Joey “the Kid” Putnam win Billings events at Fulton County Fair
The granddaddy of all amateur driving competitions, the CKG Billings Harness Driving Series, went back to its roots on Saturday (Sept. 1) with a pair of races at Ohio’s Fulton County Fair and when the events were completed “Lawbook Larry” Farley and Joey “the Kid” Putnam each emerged victorious in their respective splits.
Horses vie for Iowa Memorial honors
Iowa racing returned to the Keokuk County Fairgrounds with 13 races and four memorial trophies on Saturday (Sept. 1).
Dave Brickell brings out the stars at Stoneboro (PA) meet
Trainer/driver “Smilin’” Dave Brickell, in partnership with co-owner Mitchell York, was the star of the show at the two-day meet held in this northwest Pennsylvania city, setting a track record for freshman pacing fillies with Crew Sock Hanover at 1:59 and equaling the fastest mile of the fair season at 1:57.2 with the sophomore pacing gelding Venier Hanover — the seventh straight fair victory for Crew Sock Hanover and the sixth in a row with Venier Hanover.
Foiled Again to race Monday at Windsor Fair in Maine
Foiled Again, harness racing’s richest all-time Standardbred with earnings of $7.58 million will make his next start on Monday (Sept. 3) at the Windsor (Maine) Fair in the $4,000 Au Revoir Pace for 14-year-olds.
Sugg sweeps Canfield Derbies
The Mahoning County Fair hosted the Canfield Trotting and Pacing Derbies Friday morning (Aug. 31) and Kurt Sugg piloted the winners of both heats. In fact, Sugg won three of his four drives on the card, with a second place finish in his other drive, for a UDRS of .889 on the day.
Back-to-back grand slams for Perry in Virginia
Chuck Perry directed four horses to victory for the second consecutive day in Woodstock, Va. on Thursday (Aug. 30) as the Shenandoah County Fair meet reached its halfway point. Two of his wins established new fair track records at the half-mile oval.
Worldly Hanover sets track record at Wattsburg (PA) Fair
As they have been for much of the summer on the state fair circuit, the fillies, especially the trotting fillies, provided the majority of the notable achievements during the two-day meet Tuesday (Aug. 28) and Wednesday (Aug. 29) at the Erie County Fairgrounds in this northwest Pennsylvania town.
