The first full day of 2-year-old qualifiers at Harrah’s Philadelphia in 2025 was held on Tuesday morning, with three cuts for each sex/gait combination except for only two races for trotting colts.

Dan Noble had a successful night at MGM Northfield Park on Monday (June 9), winning three of the five $20,000 divisions in the second leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old male trotters. None of the winners from the first leg of the BSS on May 23 at Eldorado Scioto Downs were able to repeat on Monday.

Chesterman, teamed up with John Mungillo, took advantage of some hot fractions to score a 1:57 win in the United States Harness Driving Club (USHDC) feature at Oak Grove Racing and Gaming on Monday (June 9).

Driver Devon Tharps kept Ron Burke pupil High Flyin’ Filly flat off the wings of the gate and found a perch second-over off fast fractions to pounce and crush at odds of 21-1 in the $36,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel on Monday afternoon (June 9). 

Carlo Poliseno and Todd Burger’s Double Metal ($16.60, Cody Poliseno) was an upset winner in the $18,000 Open Pace Monday (June 9) at Harrington Raceway in 1:52.3.

15-1 King Strait moved outside after sitting third much of the way in the $15,000 featured trot at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on Monday afternoon (June 9), then closed well to catch pacesetting favorite Soncando while taking a new mark of 1:55.4.

A dead heat between Go Jim Dandy and Seaside Star highlighted the second leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old male pacers Sunday (June 8) at MGM Northfield Park. The second leg featured five $20,000 divisions and had no repeat winners from the opening leg.

Last week, it was seven 3-year-old colts and geldings that went for a big purse in the New York Sires Stakes at Buffalo Raceway. Now it’s the ladies’ turn as just a field of four sophomore filly pacers will go to the post with a huge jackpot of $113,400 on the line in the seventh race on Wednesday afternoon (June 11).

Trotters were in the spotlight again on Sunday night (June 8) at Running Aces and the top events saw repeat winners deliver big performances for the second straight week.

A total of $185,066 was on the line for Pennsylvania-sired 3-year-old trotting males Sunday night (June 8) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, as the second preliminary leg saw two divisions of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and four cuts of Pennsylvania Stallion Series action contested over a track that was rated “sloppy” for all the stakes races.
