The first of 87 live programs, comprising the tenth season of racing at Miami Valley Raceway in southwest Ohio, was greeted with great anticipation and enthusiasm on Monday afternoon (Jan. 2). A total of 11 drivers and 13 trainers reached the winner’s circle during the 14-race card on an unseasonably warm day with temperatures in the fifties.

Freehold Raceway concluded the 2022 racing season last Saturday, a year which included a phenomenal stakes schedule and great betting opportunities for fans throughout the year.

As 2022 has come to a close, Running Aces track announcer Darin Gagne shares his list of top moments of the 2022 Running Aces season, in no particular order.

The 10-year-old French mare Delia du Pommereux, trained by Sylvain Roger and with Pierre-Yves Verva in the sulky, won the Prix de Bourgogne Sunday afternoon (Jan. 1) at Vincennes and is now qualified to race in the Prix d’Amerique.

The talk of the toteboard in Sunday’s (Jan. 1) $18,000 Open Trot at MGM Northfield Park was heavily favored Mission Accepted, but when the smoke cleared, Light Blue Movers got a perfect trip and scored an upset.

Dancin Lance, who has two Open wins at the meet; and Major Attribute, who denied him a third two weeks ago in the most recent clash at the head of the class, square off in Monday night’s (Jan. 2) $8,000 Open Pace at Cal-Expo.

As the final hours and minutes of 2022 ticked away, Woodbine Mohawk Park contested its final race card of another successful live racing season on Saturday night (Dec. 31).
