Columbus, OH – Members from the United States Trotting Association’s District 3 gathered on Sunday (January 22) at the Hilton Arden West in Sacramento, California for the district’s annual meeting. Helmed by district chairman Ivan Axelrod and fellow directors Ben Kenney and David Siegel, the session saw the group debate 18 rule changes and three bylaw proposals. In the end, 10 were accepted and 10 were rejected, with one submission tabled for further discussion. Axelrod was re-elected to another terms as district chairman.

Ron Merritt from Michigan was named the Dan Rathka Memorial Award as the Michigan Horseman of the Year for 2022.  Presentation of the award was made by past Hall of Fame and Rathka Award winners Saturday night at the MHHA annual banquet.

The Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association celebrated the achievements of standardbred horsemen, women and horses during the 2022 racing season and honored the Michigan Harness Racing Hall of Fame inductees during Saturday’s 2023 annual banquet and awards ceremony at Crystal Gardens in Howell, MI.

It was an Italian-American pride day at Freehold on Saturday (Jan. 21). Tony Beltrami and Joe Faraldo each won a heat of the AHDC Amateur trot club.
