C Is For Cookie was the only competitor in the Bobby Weiss Series for 3-year-olds who won all three of her preliminary races, and on Monday (May 10 afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, the daughter of Betting Line racked up the “Grand Slam” by impressively winning the final of the pacing misses section. The time was 1:52.4 over a track which had just been rerated to “sloppy.”
Vernissage Grif wins Gran Premio Lotteria for second straight year
The 9-year-old Italian trotter Vernissage Grif (sired by the French champion sire Love You) may never have been better. Though he had to trot outside leading Capital Mail with Gabriele Gelormini, he was strongest down the stretch and won the Gran Premio Lotteria by a length in 1:52f followed by Bleff Diba with Roberto Vecchione and Capital Mail.
