Saturdays have been super at the Big M
The extraordinary has now become commonplace at the world’s No. 1 destination for harness racing, as once again, Saturday (Feb. 10) night business last week at The Meadowlands was over the top, leaving no reason to believe that the string of super Saturdays won’t continue this weekend, when racing is conducted on the usual Friday (Feb. 16) and Saturday (Feb. 17) schedule with a first-race post time of 6:20 p.m.
Pocono opens 2024 harness racing season on Saturday
Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania begins its 59th season of harness racing action on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 17) with an Opening Day racing card. Twelve races are on tap, beginning with a first post time of 1 p.m. (EST).
$21,048 Pick-5 carryover Saturday night at MGM Northfield Park
The shortest price of the Pick-5 sequence was $13.80 on Wednesday night (Feb. 14) at MGM Northfield Park, thus resulting in a double carryover of $21,048. Fans of the “Home of the Flying Turns” are treated to a sizeable wagering opportunity on Saturday evening (Feb. 17).
Stallion Restriction Condition notes
The Stallion Restriction Condition (SRC) — aka the “Gural Rule” — precludes all foals from the first crop only of any sire who does not meet the condition from being made eligible to any stakes/early closing races that include the SRC within the stakes conditions.
$4,419 Pick-5 carryover Wed. at Northfield
There were a couple of upsets throughout the Pick-5 sequence on Tuesday evening (Feb. 13) at MGM Northfield Park. This creates a delectable wagering opportunity on the Wednesday (Feb. 14) Valentine’s Day program.
Tuesday’s program at Yonkers canceled
Due to inclement weather, Tuesday night’s (Dec. 13) live racing program at MGM Yonkers Raceway has been canceled.
Qualifiers moved to Wednesday at Pocono
Qualifying races originally scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 13), have been moved to Wednesday (Feb. 14), due to the impending weather conditions. A decision will be made on Tuesday if the Wednesday qualifying races will be cancelled until next week.
