Red Mile makes its first appearance on national television for the Kentucky Futurity
On Sunday (Oct. 6) The Red Mile celebrates the culmination of the famed one-mile oval’s 150th anniversary season by placing itself upon on the network television scene in a new agreement with the Fox Sports family in conjunction with the New York Racing Association (NYRA). The iconic red clay facility, where many of harness racing’s historic moments have transpired, will enter the annals of the sport yet again by presenting the Kentucky Futurity, the final jewel in the Trotting Triple Crown, to households across the country for the first time since 1987 when the Breeders Crown was on ESPN.

Batavia guarantees Wed. Pick-5 at $7,500
With no one hitting the Pick-5 again at Batavia Downs on Saturday (Sept. 28) night, there will be a $2,112 carryover for that wager in the first race on Wednesday (Oct. 2). Track management has announced that pool will be guaranteed at $7,500 through the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program.
Meadows Monday memo
The Meadows is now into its fall racing schedule, with three days of racing per week. This week, post time will be 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Pick-5 carryover and guaranteed pool offered on Monday at Yonkers
The final Saturday (Sept. 28) program of the year at MGM Yonkers Raceway saw no winning tickets held in the Pick-5. That means there will be a $4,115.36 carryover in the sequence on Monday (Sept. 30), and the normal $10,000 guaranteed pool in the Pick-5 that happens on Mondays will get boosted to $15,000.

Power failure causes Philly to cancel
As the horses were getting ready to go to the gate for the first race of Friday (Sept. 27) evening’s program at Harrah’s Philadelphia, a large local power failure occurred, and the races at Philly had to be cancelled for Friday night.
