It was September of 1976 when The Meadowlands opened, and it was then that the sport of harness racing changed forever.

The Woodbine Mohawk Park Race Office has added a new Claiming Pop-Up series for pacers to next week’s condition sheet.

The Meadows will debut a new wager on Wednesday (March 6), featuring a 15 percent takeout and a $1 base.

Harrah’s Philadelphia seeks an assistant race secretary for the 2024 live racing season which gets underway on April 12.

There was a single Pick-5 ticket alive to the favorite in the 10th race on Tuesday night (Feb. 20) at MGM Northfield. However, the favorite couldn’t hold off a late surge, sending a carryover into the Wednesday evening (Feb. 21) program. The $1 wager with its low 14-percent takeout will have a zestful carryover of $5,413 and feature an estimated pool of $30,000.

After a brief hiatus, Meadowlands Racetrack is bringing back a live money handicapping contest on Saturday (March 23).

The extraordinary has now become commonplace at the world’s No. 1 destination for harness racing, as once again, Saturday (Feb. 10) night business last week at The Meadowlands was over the top, leaving no reason to believe that the string of super Saturdays won’t continue this weekend, when racing is conducted on the usual Friday (Feb. 16) and Saturday (Feb. 17) schedule with a first-race post time of 6:20 p.m.

Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania begins its 59th season of harness racing action on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 17) with an Opening Day racing card. Twelve races are on tap, beginning with a first post time of 1 p.m. (EST).
