Chad Svendsen joins USTA as ID Tech for Minnesota, Wisconsin

Columbus, OH — The U.S. Trotting Association announced Thursday (Jan. 26) that Chad Svendsen has been retained to serve as an ID Technician for the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin and is available immediately to provide microchipping and freeze branding services to USTA members.

“Svendsen joins current USTA ID Technician Garry Phillips in that area of the country to provide even better service to our members located there,” said USTA COO and Director of Registry and Member Services TC Lane in making the announcement. “He has extensive racing experience in the area and will be a valuable asset to both the USTA and our members there.”

Svendsen is a third generation USTA member and harness racing driver/trainer. He grew up watching his grandfather Lorenz Svendsen race horses in Minnesota and Iowa as well as his mother Goldie and uncles Dallas and Lemoyne.

He began driving in 1987 and started training full time after graduating from Sigourney High School in 1989. He has raced at numerous fair and pari-mutuel tracks in the Midwest and continues to race in both Iowa and Minnesota. Since 1987, Svendsen’s driving record includes 1,956 starts with 330 wins and $1,112,047 in career purse earnings.

Svendsen resides in Ottumwa, Iowa, with his wife Kelly and daughters Myah and Ahnika.
