Vernon, NY – Chapvious (Jacquavyian Carter) takes the $7,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Sept. 11).
Chapvious ($5.00) emerged to the front and led to the quarter in :27.1. She used a :29.4 second to be first to the half in :57.0. Discus Hanover (Leon Bailey) came first-up to challenge heading around the final turn and led to three quarters in 1:25.4.
As they entered the stretch, third place finisher Discus Hanover went very wide enabling Chapvious to reclaim the lead and get the win in 1:55.2. Tiktok Roy (Jimmy Whittemore) came up to finish second.
Chapvious is a 4-year-old mare by Devious Man. She is owned by the Purple Haze Stables and trained by George Ducharme. It was her sixth win this season and her 10th career victory.
Chris long had a driving triple. Jacquavyian Carter, Leon Bailey, and Joe Nassimos had driving doubles. George Ducharme had a training double.
