Plainville, MA — Employing her usual stellar stretch drive, Checkpoint Chatter captured the featured $17,000 conditioned pace for fillies and mares at Plainridge Park on Monday (May 25) afternoon.

Driver Jimmy Hardy got away fourth with Checkpoint Chatter while Beantown Ace (Bruce Ranger) and Racy Roxy A (Jay Randall) traded leads going through the :26.4 quarter. Once on top, Racy Roxy A led the single-file field to the half and onto the backstretch.
Shortly after the five-eighths, Gowestyounggrace (Kevin Switzer Jr.) pulled from third and Checkpoint Chatter gladly took her cover. Gowestyounggrace cleared before the last turn and Checkpoint Chatter made up two lengths and drew alongside at the top of the stretch. The two mares matched strides down the lane until Checkpoint Chatter pulled ahead by one-half length and won in a season’s best, 1:51.4, with a sharp :27.4 final panel.
It was the 33rd career win for Checkpoint Chatter ($7.20), who is owned by Upland Farm and trained by Don Guidette Jr.
There were also a pair of $13,000 conditioned paces on the card.
The first was won by Peter Petrify N (1:52.3, $5.80) who was driven by Mitchell Cushing and trained by Edwin Quevedo for owner Steve Moskowitz and the second was won by Beantown Deuce (1:52.2, $5.60), who went a lifetime best for driver Drew Monti, trainer Jesse McAssey and owner Michael Goldberg Racing.
Kevin Switzer Jr. and Mitchell Cushing both had two driving wins during the afternoon.
Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (May 26) at 4 p.m. and there will be a $21,040 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta wager in the sixth race.
