Chiodo and Lee victorious in MADC at the Big M

East Rutherford, NJ – With two more MADC races carded on Saturday night (May 4), the day of the Kentucky Derby, it was one longshot and one obvious chalk that reigned supreme. On the lead or near the top spot was where you wanted to be.

In the first race, it was a revved up Way To Close (Tony Beltrami) who made it too fast and too close in the end. That’s because after a blistering :26.1 first quarter he maintained his lead in the deep stretch but drifted just off the cones ever so slightly and that allowed pocket sitter and longshot Meet The Creeper (Bruno Chiodo) to rally past late for the victory.

Beltrami held on to second while the post time favorite, Warrawee Yankee (Mark Silva), has to settle for third. The mile was paced in 1:52. The 7-year old gelding is owned by Chiodo Racing LLC out of NJ and Stacy Chiodo trains.

In the fifth race, it was the carbon copy from last week for Joe Lee and Random Hanover. He got the lead, went a super fast first half mile in :54.2 and didn’t have any challengers until late, going another sub 1:51 mile, but this time his margin of victory was a finishing neck.

Heza Real Diamond (Tony Beltrami) came home for a close second while pocket sitter Muscle Factory A (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) had to settle for third. This mile went in 1:50.4. The 8-year old gelding is owned by El Dorado Stables out of Florida and is trained by Cote Keim.

The MADC races will be back next Friday night (May 10) at the Big M with a first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
