Chris Long picks up career win number 4,000 Friday at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Veteran driver Chris Long got his 4,000th career win with Smooth Aceleration at Vernon Downs on Friday (Oct. 27).

Super Betcha (Artie Dick) was first to the quarter in :28.1. Smooth Aceleration ($7.40) made his move heading down the backstretch. He led to the half in :58.2. The 7-year-old gelding by Swan For All was first to three-quarters in 1:27.2. He just cruised down the stretch to win in 1:57.2.

Smooth Aceleration is owned by Robert Kluchevitz and is trained by Chris Dubois.

American JJ (Michael Miller) went gate-to-wire to win the $6,000 featured trot.

American JJ ($11.80) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :28.2. He used a :29.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1. SVF Cash Deposit (Barton Dalious) came first-up to challenge as they headed to the final turn. American JJ got to three-quarters first in 1:27.3.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Telenovela (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) came flying late but American JJ was too strong and won in 1:56.2. Nanuet (Steeven Genois) finished third.

American JJ is a 10-year-old gelding by Jailhouse Jesse. He is owned by Lisa Miller and trained by Hannah Miller. It was his fifth win this season. He now has 36 career victories.

Jeannies Terror (Tom Merton) charged late to grab the co-featured $6,00 fillies and mares pace.

Elegant Noelle (Chris Long) put up all the early fractions. She was first to the quarter in :27, led to the half in :56.1 and was strong to three-quarters in 1:25.1.

Jeannies Terror ($5,00) made her move as she came flying down the lane and blew right on by to win in 1:54.1. Lorrie Sue (Steeven Genois) came up to finish second. Anytime N (Jimmy Whittemore) was third best.

Jeannies Terror is a 7-year-old mare by Western Terror. She is owned by Jamie Daley and trained by Dale Gilmour. It was her fourth win this season. She now has 14 career victories.

Barton Dalious had a five-win night at the miracle mile. He was first with Dude’s Anna, Dancing Dream, The Moma Dance, Usurp Hanover, and Tour De Lindy.
