Nichols, NY – Chuckthemillionair (Kyle DiBenedetto) captured the featured $17,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 23).
Duly Resolved (Tyler Miller) led to the quarter in :26.4 and used a :29.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :56. Chuckthemillionair ($25.20) made his move first-over going down the backstretch and was third as Duly Resolved hit three-quarters in 1:24.1.
As they reached the stretch, Chuckthemillionair took over the lead. Second-place finisher Whiskey Lou (Ridge Warren) slipped through on the inside as third-place finisher Purple Lord (Jim Pantaleano) went three-wide. Chuckthemillionair held them off to win by a neck in a lifetime-best 1:54.2.
Chuckthemillionair is a 5-year-old gelding by Lucky Chucky. He is trained by Joe Fusaro for owners Peter Peck, Harvey Ort Jr., and Bryan Casey. It was the 10th win of the season and of his career.
Ridge Warren had a driving triple. Dave Dewhurst had a training double.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Sunday (Aug. 24) with a post time of 1 p.m.
